    Dow Jones closed down 1.0%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

    The Dow Jones fell 0.96% to finish the trading day down 340 points to close at 35,029 points.

    Earlier, markets in Europe had strong sessions as London's FTSE and Germany's DAX finished the trading day higher.

    Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 10 points (0.1%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

    The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 72.1 US cents.

    Gold is trading at US$1,840 per ounce with copper up 0.02% to US$4.47 per pound.

    WTI Crude oil is selling for US$86.16 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$87.56 per barrel.

    The spot iron ore price is trading at US$129 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$41,936 going into the Asian trading day.
