Building products company CSR is set to conclude its 62-year ASX tenure today, following a $9-per-share buyout by Saint-Gobain.

The French group's $4.3 billion acquisition, effective today, includes ownership of Gyprock, PGH bricks, Monier roof tiles, Hebel building blocks, and a 25% stake in the Tomago aluminium smelter.

Saint-Gobain, operating in 76 countries with 168,000 employees, plans to achieve $60 million in cost savings by the end of its third year of CSR ownership.
