Zero Gravity Labs (0G Labs) has raised $290 million to develop what it claims will be the first decentralised artificial intelligence operating system.
The funding combines a $40 million seed round from prominent venture capitalists and a previous $35 million pre-seed round from earlier this year.
Additionally, the 0G Foundation, an entity dedicated to managing the long-term governance of the 0G Protocol, received a $250 million “liquid line” commitment.
This liquid line provides access to digital assets on exchanges at over-the-counter rates, offering flexible financial support for the ongoing growth of the 0G ecosystem.
Key investors include Hack VC, Delphi Digital, Okx Ventures, Samsung Next, Bankless Ventures, and Animoca, as well as blockchain figures like Sandeep Nailwal and Adrian Cheng.
The broad base of investors signals strong support for decentralised artificial intelligence, a core value of the 0G project.
According to Michael Heinrich, CEO of 0G Labs, their decentralised AI aims to tackle concerns surrounding control and transparency in AI, which are often challenges in centralised systems.
Heinrich emphasised that this capital will accelerate their mission to build a decentralised AI infrastructure that offers security, accessibility, and transparency.
The AI system, known as dAIOS, promises decentralised data processing and storage, reportedly achieving speeds of up to 50 gigabytes per second.
A unique aspect of dAIOS is its ability to support AI processing directly on blockchain networks without the need for off-chain data handling.
The system’s developers see this as a major advantage, providing enhanced security and efficiency by leveraging the blockchain directly.
Part of the 0G Foundation’s strategy includes fostering a developer community focused on decentralised AI, promoting partnerships to advance research and innovation in the field.
Heinrich believes dAIOS will provide a more open and accessible operating system for AI, aligning with the decentralised principles of blockchain technology.
With this funding, 0G Labs aims to push the boundaries of AI technology by creating an ecosystem that can operate independently of centralised control.
The 0G Foundation’s focus on building a decentralised AI operating system aligns with the growing demand for transparency, security, and community-driven innovation in artificial intelligence.
As more developers and investors look for decentralised solutions, 0G’s ecosystem could set new standards in how AI systems are built and managed on a global scale.
