The X social media platform suspended multiple accounts linked to Solana-based (CRYPTO:SOL) crypto projects including Pump.fun, GMGN, BullX, and ElizaOS on June 16, 2025, without providing official reasons.

Pump.fun’s official account and the personal account of its co-founder Alon Cohen were among those removed, alongside other affiliated team members.

The suspensions occurred days before Pump.fun’s planned $1 billion token sale, raising concerns about the launch’s future.

Affected accounts displayed the standard message citing violations of X’s rules, but no further details were given.

The suspended projects’ websites remain operational, and some teams, like GMGN, are appealing the bans and investigating the situation.

Speculation about the cause of the suspensions includes possible unauthorised use of X’s APIs to scrape data, which violates platform policies, or concerns over fraudulent activities linked to meme coin promotions.

Some users also pointed to rumors of regulatory scrutiny, although no official confirmation from the SEC has been made.

Pump.fun has been a central platform for launching Solana meme coins, with one creator reportedly earning over $93,000 in three weeks through its revenue sharing feature.

However, the ecosystem has faced criticism for promoting risky tokens and controversial marketing tactics, including incidents of staged self-harm during live streams to manipulate token prices.

The suspensions coincide with a broader crackdown on meme coin-related accounts on X, affecting trading tools and influencers in the space.

This enforcement sweep has disrupted communication channels for these projects and may impact market sentiment and platform revenues in the short term.

Pump.fun’s co-founder publicly distanced the platform from controversial token experiments by other networks, emphasising no plans to launch a token similar to Coinbase’s Base project.

At the time of reporting, the Solana (SOL) price was $153.69.
