Coinbase is nearing the integration of Bitcoin Lightning onto its platform through a partnership with Lightspark, a company focused on Lightning solutions and led by ex-PayPal president David Marcus.

With this development, mentioned by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong in an April 4th social media post, the platform's 108 million users will soon experience the benefits of faster and more cost-effective Bitcoin transactions.

Lightspark has stated that this move aims to divert transaction activity to Bitcoin's second layer, in response to the increasing fees on the cryptocurrency's base layer over the past year.

This integration is seen as a significant step in enhancing transaction efficiency and reducing costs, reflecting a strategic move to leverage Bitcoin Lightning for improved service offerings to Coinbase's vast user base.
