    Chairman of Australia?s banking regulator steps down

    Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority chairman Wayne Byres has announced he is stepping down, prompting a search for his replacement.

    Mr Byres has led Australia?s banking, insurance and superannuation regulator for eight years.

    APRA deputy chairman John Lonsdale is the front runner to replace Mr Byres.
