CertiK, a blockchain security platform, identified a critical security flaw in the Wormhole (CRYPTO:W) bridge on the Aptos (CRYPTO:APT) network that could have resulted in $5 million worth of losses.

The vulnerability, arising from an incorrect implementation of certain modifiers in the MOVE programming language, could have allowed attackers to produce fake token transfers.

However, CertiK reported the flaw to the Wormhole team, who promptly patched the bridge, preventing any potential exploitation.

Additionally, measures were taken to limit future losses, including adjusting withdrawal limits and conducting a retrospective analysis to ensure user funds remained secure.

Despite past incidents, Wormhole's swift response to this vulnerability demonstrates improvements in its security practices.
