Perth-based explorer Burley Minerals has begun its first drilling program at the Broad Flat Well Iron Project in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Heritage surveys were completed by the Yindjibarndi Nation in June, with Yurra overseeing earthworks for access tracks and drill pads.

The drilling initiative comprises 50 drill holes across more than 6km of outcropping channel iron deposits.

Initial rock chip samples have shown positive results, with assay grades averaging over 56% Fe.

Further sampling and mapping on additional channel iron deposits areas are currently underway.

"Burley's management are very excited to commence the maiden drilling program at the Broad Flat Well Iron Project. Thanks to the Yindjibarndi Nation for completing the heritage survey in late June, and to Yurra for expeditious completion of the earthworks thereafter," said Managing Director and CEO Stewart McCallion.

"Burley's geologist and the drilling contractor have mobilised to site and are now drilling. I look forward to providing an update on the Brad Flat Well Project soon," McCallion added.

The project area spans more than 66 hectares of mesa-form McCallion deposits, reaching heights over 10m above ground level.

Burley also identified additional targets within the tenement for ongoing sampling and mapping.

Burley Minerals is an ASX-listed minerals explorer with iron ore and lithium projects, located within the tier-one provinces of Western Australia and the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Manitoba.

The company's projects include the Cane Bore Iron Project, Broad Flat Well Iron Project, Yerecoin Iron Project, Chubb Lithium Project and the Manitoba Lithium Projects.
