The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) has discovered a bug in Stellar Core v20.1.0, but while it poses little risk, it could potentially affect applications once the smart contract platform is launched.

As a result, the Stellar smart contract upgrade was postponed until a bug fix was implemented.

The SDF announced the decision to disarm their validators in order to postpone the Protocol 20 vote, scheduled for January 30, until after the bug was resolved.

Stellar is one of the longstanding blockchain projects that is majorly centered on payments and asset tokenisation.

XLM, the token powering the Stellar blockchain, presently has a market capitalisation of $3.2 billion.
