Blackstone Minerals identified a strategy to convert residue from its Ta Khoa Refinery in Vietnam into construction materials such as bricks and pavers.

The company signed a memorandum of understanding with Phu Minh Vina Environment and Viet Trung Refractory Material Construction to research opportunities to repurpose and trade the waste material.

Implementing the strategy could result in cost savings for the Ta Khoa Project and reduce the environmental impact of the residue storage facility.

Blackstone is in discussions with Vietnamese companies to create offtake agreements for the remaining refinery byproducts and supply of reagents for the refinery.
