Australian goatmeat exports surged 55% in 2023 compared to the previous year, reaching 33,891 tonnes, according to Meat & Livestock Australia.

China surpassed South Korea to become the second largest market, while the United States remained the top market with a 43% share.

Although export volumes increased, the value declined due to falling prices, totalling $237.5 million.

Other markets, including Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia, and New Zealand, also increased. Indonesia, Oman, Jordan, and Mauritius resumed imports in 2023 after a hiatus in 2022.
