SkyCity Entertainment (ASX:SKC) says the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre intends to file civil penalty proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia against the company today.

SkyCity is the operator of the SkyCity Adelaide casino in South Australia, and AUSTRAC is alleging contraventions of its obligations under the Australian Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006.

SkyCity says the commencement of proceedings by AUSTRAC follows an enforcement investigation that began in June 2021 into its compliance with the act.

It also says given the matter will be before the Court, it would be inappropriate for the company to comment further on the allegations.
