The Australian market closed 0.84% higher today at 6885.9 driven by a 5% surge for tech stocks following momentum on the Nasdaq yesterday.
For the fifth consecutive month the RBA has maintained Australian interest rates at a record low level of 0.1%, but today RBA governor Philip Lowe said the RBA are closely watching lending risks in the housing market as prices for March grew the fastest monthly rate in 32-years.
The tech sector led today?s gains with Afterpay gaining almost 10%, Codan up 9.77% and Nuix surging 6.38%.
At 4pm AET Bitcoin is trading 2.83% higher at US$58,760.04. Meantime Ethereum soared to a record high US$2151.25 today, gaining 5.1% in the last 24-hours.
Australia?s number one online employment marketplace Seek rallied today after the Australian job advertisement data for March was released, indicating a 7.4% growth month-on-month to a 12-year high of 190,542 jobs advertised.
Making headlines, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern today announced quarantine-free travel can resume between Australia and New Zealand from April 19. Air New Zealand surged more than 8.5% following the announcement
