The Australian market rallied into afternoon trade to close Friday?s session 0.23% higher at 7396.50 driven by a surge in healthcare and consumer staples stocks. The top stocks for Friday?s session were Crown Resorts jumping 16.5% and Altium adding 5.2%. For the week, the ASX fell 0.62%.
The tech sector recovered some losses in afternoon trade but still closed Friday?s session in negative territory as heavy losses for Wisetech Global and Nearmap offset rallies for Atium and Tyro Payments.
Bitcoin is trading 5.56% lower over the last 24-hours at US$56,488.02 at 4:45pm AEDT.
Shares in iCandy Interactive surged 16% today after the company announced it will acquire 100% of southeast Asia-based game art and animation company, Lemon Sky Studios for $44.5m. iCandy also announced a $40m capital raising today that was oversubscribed after receiving firm commitments from key institutional investors including Animoca Brands.
Making headlines, one of Australia?s largest infrastructure service providers in Australia and New Zealand, Ventia Services Group soared 23.5% on its ASX debut today. Following an IPO at $1.70/share raising $438m valuing Ventia Services at $1.5bn, shares in the company soared 23.5% to close its debut session at $2.10/share.
