    The Australian market closed 0.61% higher at a 13-month high of 6928 for the midweek session with all sectors finishing in the green as gold miners led the upward charge.

    The tech sector finished the day in the green with EML Payments surging nearly 6%, Codan up almost 2% and Afterpay ending the day up more than 1.5%.

    Bitcoin has remained virtually unchanged throughout the day, trading at US$58,314.26 at 4:15pm AET.

    Australian biotech company Immutep?s shares rallied today after sharing news of a new European patent grant for ?Combination therapies comprising antibody molecules to LAG-3? to further protect the company?s intellectual property..

    Making headlines, in another sign of economic recovery in Australia, new car sales jumped 22% in March from the same period a year earlier, with experts saying it would be higher but the chip shortage has slowed production for some offshore producers.
