The ASX closed down -172.90 points with the Utilities sector leading the charge.

Of the 50 largest stocks, the most movement has been from Origin Energy (ASX:ORG.asx) which closed 2.45% higher.

In number 2 spot is Transurban Group (ASX:TCL.asx) which closed the session up by 0.42%.

Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM.asx) rounds out the top 3 moving up 0.26%.

As the top 50 largest companies comprise almost 60% of the total market, any big changes to their share price may influence the overall market.

The biggest winner on the ASX today was Magnum Mining And Exploration (ASX:MGU.asx) - which finished 53.33% higher.

The biggest loser by the close was Argonaut Resources (ASX:CCE.asx) - falling by 50%.
