Mineral Sands processing company, Astron Corporation (ASX:ATR) has reported an update on the claim by its subsidiary Carnegie Minerals against The Gambia, a country in West Africa. 

In 2015, an ICSID tribunal ruled in favour of Carnegie Minerals and awarded damages of $US18.66m, arbitration costs of $US445,860, and legal costs of £2.25m.

The Gambia's application for annulment was rejected in its entirety, and Astron Corporation has engaged Ambassador Pierre-Richard Prosper to help with claiming the award, totalling $34.3M.

Astron Corporation has also recently sent a letter to the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of The Gambia.
