Arrow Minerals (ASX:AMD) has conducted an initial mapping program over the Simandou North Iron Project in Guinea, which identified three iron bearing lithological units with potential to host high-grade iron.
Siliceous hematite, Goethite-hematite and Canga were mapped in outcrop by field geologists.
The geological map produced by the field team highlighted the presence of the full Simandou Range stratigraphic sequence, which is favorable to the historical geophysical data and imagery.
The company is now preparing for the first phase of drilling to be conducted, and has secured the raw historical airborne magnetic survey data for reprocessing.
In parallel to the field work, the government of Guinea, Simfer and Winning Consortium Simandou have formed a JV Company to co-develop the megaproject requiring the construction of the 670km “TransGuinean” railway, which is set to enable commercial production from mines in the area by 2025.
Arrow Minerals aims to systematically advance the Simandou North Iron Project over the coming months to identify areas of high-grade iron within the project area and realise the potential value released through the major infrastructural upgrades taking place in the region.
