The government of Argentina is planning to facilitate the legalisation of crypto assets, regardless of whether they are overdue on tax declarations.
This move comes as part of the Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines, proposed to Congress on December 27.
The bill, put forth by the country's libertarian authority Javier Milei, outlines a series of reforms across tax, labour, criminal, energy and electoral areas.
Within the legislation, a section on the "asset regularisation scheme" states that cryptocurrencies can be listed as assets taxpayers can legitimise without needing to provide additional documentation to prove their origin.
