Australian energy infrastructure business APA Group finalised the decision to construct the Kurri Kurri Lateral Pipeline, connecting the Hunter Power Project to the Sydney to Newcastle Pipeline.
The project, licensed by the New South Wales Government, entails a 20km gas transmission pipeline, a 70 TJ gas storage facility, and electric compressors to minimise operational emissions.
With an estimated total capital expenditure of $450 million, the pipeline's construction is on schedule, with nearly 400 workers expected at peak construction.
APA intends the project to support grid stability and the growth of renewable energy as coal-fired generation is phased out.
