American West Metals (ASX:AW1) has announced assays have confirmed outstanding copper intersections at the Storm Copper Project in Canada.

The company said it found thick and high-grade near surface copper mineralisation in another five drill holes which included results of 29m @ 1.1% Cu from 59.4m, including 9.2m @ 2.2% Cu from 71.6m, including 1.5m @ 5.1% Cu from 79.3m.

It also said the results continue to match or exceed its visual estimations as reported in previous announcements, and support the potential for a low-cost open pit mining operation.

American West Metals said further assays for Storm are pending with more results expected in the coming weeks.
