All work, no play for Australians in June it seems as the country?s national unemployment rate fell to a near 50-year low of 3.5% for the month.
The ABS data released today shows the country?s participation rate climbed to 66.8%.
In terms of the type of employment, more than 52,000 Aussies took up full-time work during the month, while 35,500 more Australians opted for part-time employment.
The ACT overtook WA as having the country?s lowest unemployment rate of 3.1% while WA?s unemployment rate actually increased to 3.4% in June.
The drop in the unemployment rate nationwide reflects an increasingly tight labour market with high demand for engaging and retaining workers, on top of ongoing skilled labour shortages.
