Wall Street
Wall Street is a street in Lower Manhattan, New York City that has become synonymous with the U.S. financial industry. It is home to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), one of the world's largest stock exchanges, as well as the headquarters of many of the world's largest banks and financial institutions.
Wall Street's prominence in the financial industry is due in part to its historical importance. The street was originally the site of the city's first permanent Dutch settlement in the 17th century, and became a hub for trading and commerce in the early days of the United States.
Today, "Wall Street" is often used more broadly to refer to the financial industry in the United States, particularly the investment banking and securities trading sectors.
