White Energy (ASX:WEC) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Binderless Coal Briquetting, has entered an exclusive worldwide agency agreement with Illinois-based briquette machine manufacturer K.R. Komarek.
Under the agreement, BCBC will act as Komarek's exclusive sales agent for briquettors utilising the BCB technology, beginning after the expiration of White Energy's current worldwide licence on Jan. 17.
The BCB technology, developed over 20 years by a CSIRO-led consortium, transforms coal and coal fines into high-energy, binderless briquettes, enabling cleaner, more efficient fuel for power stations without technical modifications.
White Energy, which has extensively developed the technology, will continue to exploit its know-how and technical expertise under the new arrangement.
The ten-year agency agreement, renewable annually, positions White Energy to expand its BCB technology business globally, while joint venture partner Proterra Investment Partners explores opportunities in South Africa to produce export-grade briquettes from coal tailings.
CEO Greg Sheahan described the agreement as "a strong endorsement of White Energy’s long-term strategic engagement with BCB technology and its potential to deliver cleaner, more efficient energy solutions internationally."
