Senate Democrats are planning a call with crypto industry representatives on Friday to discuss the delayed market structure legislation.

The talks follow a last-minute postponement of the Senate Banking Committee’s planned markup of the crypto bill.

Sources said the delay came after mounting resistance from some Democrats and Republicans, even before Coinbase withdrew its support.

The Friday call is expected to include members from both the Senate Banking Committee and the Senate Agriculture Committee.

Crypto policy advocacy groups based in Washington are also set to participate in the discussions.

Lawmakers and industry representatives are expected to revisit unresolved compromises in the draft legislation.

One key issue is whether stablecoin rewards programmes should be permitted under the proposed framework.

The Senate Agriculture Committee is still scheduled to hold its own markup session on January 27.
