Consumer finance giant Latitude Group (ASX:LFS) and retail powerhouse Harvey Norman (ASX:HVN) have signalled their intent to fight a class action recently filed in the Queensland Supreme Court.
The legal proceedings target Latitude's subsidiary and the retailer over the advertising of "interest-free" offers tied to Latitude GO Mastercard products between January 2020 and August 2021.
While the plaintiffs are seeking restitution, damages, and a court order to declare relevant consumer agreements null and void, the defendants remain defiant.
Latitude labelled the claims "fundamentally flawed," asserting that it intends to vigorously defend the matter.
Harvey Norman, named as the second defendant, confirmed that the action also seeks to recover interest and legal costs for the representative plaintiffs and broader group members.
At the time of reporting, Latitude Group's share price was $0.93.
