A Taiwanese national has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for operating Incognito, a dark web narcotics marketplace that used cryptocurrency, US prosecutors said.
The sentence was handed down by a New York court following a case brought by the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
Prosecutors said the defendant, identified as the founder of Incognito, previously pleaded guilty to running the crypto-enabled platform that facilitated illegal drug transactions.
The marketplace was used to buy and sell narcotics using digital assets, placing it among a group of dark web platforms targeted by US law enforcement.
The 30-year term ranks among the harsher sentences imposed in cases involving cryptocurrency-linked dark web drug markets.
US authorities said the case highlights continued enforcement pressure on illicit online platforms that rely on crypto payments.
