Household spending in Australia remained robust in November 2025, rising 1% from the previous month, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported.
This follows gains of 1.4% in October and 0.4% in September 2025, with overall spending now 6.3% higher than a year ago.

ABS head of business statistics Tom Lay said the increase was driven by strong growth in both services and goods.
Services spending rose 1.2%, boosted by major events such as concerts and sporting fixtures, which also lifted spending on catering, transport, and recreation.
Goods spending increased 0.9%, fueled by Black Friday sales, with clothing, footwear, furnishings, and electronics seeing the largest gains.
Growth was broad-based, with eight of nine spending categories up, led by furnishings and household equipment (+2.2%), clothing and footwear (+2%), and Recreation and culture (+1.7%).
Over the year, miscellaneous goods and services (+10.6%) and recreation and culture (+8.6%) recorded the highest growth.
Spending rose across all eight states and territories, with Tasmania (+2.1%) and Western Australia (+1.7%) leading the gains.
