US employers added 115,000 jobs in April, marking the first back-to-back advance in nearly a year, and the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.3%. Bloomberg's Michael McKee has our first read on the report.

The US and Iran clashed overnight near the Strait of Hormuz and the Iranian army seized an oil tanker carrying a cargo of the Islamic Republic's oil. "We don't believe hikes are on the table for 2026, definitely on the table for 2027," says Earl Davis, head of fixed income and money markets at BMO Global Asset Management. He sees the Federal Reserve being "a solid two meetings away" from dropping its easing bias and expects markets to be focused on inflation in the fourth quarter of this year.
