Australia's sovereign wealth fund has delivered a powerhouse performance for 2025, with the Future Fund reporting a 12.4% annual return that added a staggering $29.54 billion to its coffers.
The result pushes the fund’s total valuation to $267.4 billion, comfortably outpacing its long-term targets despite a backdrop of global economic volatility.
The fund's success was underpinned by a strategic pivot toward "big theme" drivers. CEO Raphael Arndt credited the adoption of artificial intelligence, the management of persistent inflation, and savvy navigation of geopolitical shifts for the windfall.
Under its first full year of a refreshed investment mandate—which prioritises national interests like energy transition and housing—the fund ramped up significant stakes in CDC Data Centres and the electricity giant Transgrid.
