5E Advanced Materials (ASX:5EA), a developer of refined borates and advanced boron derivative materials, announced that its boric acid has successfully passed all qualification parameters in a 20-ton commercial tank trial conducted by a major US-based LCD glass manufacturer.
The trial, which began in December, represents a critical step toward a potential initial offtake agreement and marks a significant milestone in 5E's commercialisation strategy.
The multi-stage qualification program assessed key impurity profiles, moisture content, particle size distribution, flowability, and logistical performance under commercial manufacturing conditions. 5E’s boric acid met the customer's specifications across all parameters for LCD glass production.
"Completing this customer qualification trial demonstrates another meaningful milestone on 5E's path to commercialisation," said Paul Weibel, CEO. "It validates our ability to produce on-spec product in commercial quantities for the LCD glass industry and positions us to secure our first offtake agreement."
The customer evaluation spanned approximately eight months, beginning with lab testing in April 2025, followed by a supply chain validation trial in August, and culminating in the 20-ton commercial tank trial shipped to Southeast Asia in October 2025.
Initial performance feedback during the trial was positive, and the product has now met all required testing standards.
