Tamboran Resources (ASX:TBN) announced record-breaking results from its Shenandoah South 6H (SS-6H) well in the Beetaloo Basin.

The well, situated within the Mid Velkerri B Shale, delivered an exceptional average 20-day initial production flow rate of 10.3 million cubic feet per day from an 8,635-foot horizontal section.

When adjusted for a standard 10,000-foot horizontal length, the performance reaches 11.9 MMcf/d—a figure that compares favourably with the top-tier average of over 11,000 producing wells in the United States’ renowned Marcellus Shale.

The successful flow test concluded with a stable rate of 8.8 MMcf/d at a wellhead pressure of approximately 580 psi.

Technical teams observed continued water unloading at roughly 270 barrels per day, suggesting the well is still "cleaning up" and could exhibit further stability.

To minimise carbon emissions and prevent unnecessary flaring, testing was intentionally curtailed to preserve reservoir energy.

Tamboran CEO Todd Abbott highlighted that the SS-6H results demonstrate "strong, stable performance and low decline characteristics", mirroring the successful trajectory of the previous SS-2H ST1 well.

The results pave the way for the company’s 2026 stimulation campaign, which includes the 3H, 4H, and 5H wells.

All four wells are scheduled to be tied into the Sturt Plateau Compression Facility, with commercial gas sales expected to commence in the third quarter of 2026.
