Lotus Resources (ASX:LOT) restarted uranium production at its Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Malawi, resolving a brief operational standstill.

Processing at the site was halted on April 4 after a fire damaged two critical electrical control panels within the drying and packaging facility.

The company managed to limit the downtime to less than two weeks by installing interim engineered panels using on-site expertise and spare parts.

Managing Director Greg Bittar noted that while the interruption was "not ideal", the rapid response has kept the project on schedule.

Lotus remains confident in its timeline to achieve steady-state production by Q2 2026, with permanent replacement panels expected to arrive and be installed in the coming weeks.
