Champion Iron restarts rail services after Quebec train derailment
Share
Champion Iron (ASX:CIA) announced that railway services have resumed following a third-party train derailment on the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway, a key route used to transport high-purity iron ore concentrate from the company's Bloom Lake mine to the port of Sept-Îles.
The derailment occurred on Dec. 28, 2025, with rail services gradually resuming on Jan. 4.
Champion said operations at Bloom Lake were not materially affected by the disruption, although iron ore concentrate was temporarily stockpiled at the mine site.
The company added that it is working closely with QNSL to optimise the phased return to normal rail operations and to minimize any impact on production and sales.
