Prince Harry is not expected to meet his father King Charles III during his upcoming visit to the UK for a court case involving the publisher of the Daily Mail.
The King is expected to keep his distance while the legal proceedings are ongoing, with the trial due to begin later in January unless settled beforehand.
The civil case centres on claims that publications owned by Associated Newspapers Ltd gathered information using unlawful methods, allegations the company has strongly denied.
Other claimants in the case include Sir Elton John, Liz Hurley and Baroness Doreen Lawrence.
During a previous UK visit in 2023 for a separate legal dispute, Prince Harry also did not meet his father.
In September 2025, Prince Harry and King Charles met privately at Clarence House, marking their first face-to-face meeting in 19 months.
That meeting followed a BBC interview in which Prince Harry said:
I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.
A separate case against News Group Newspapers was settled out of court in January 2025 with an apology and damages paid.
Reports suggest future visits could be eased by a review of Prince Harry’s UK police protection, although no decision has yet been confirmed.
