Google has rolled out a major update to Gmail by integrating its latest Gemini 3 model, turning the inbox into an AI-powered assistant.
The new “AI Inbox” replaces the traditional chronological feed with priority-based clusters and automated summaries.
This is us delivering on Gmail proactively having your back.
Blake Barnes said.
Gemini 3 enables users to receive summaries of emails, draft replies, and query inbox content using natural language.
Google expanded its “Help Me Write” feature to all users, adding improved tone matching to reflect personal writing styles.
Advanced assistant features that search across inbox content remain limited to paid Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
The update is initially rolling out in the United States, with some features restricted to selected testers.
Google also added fast image-generation tools to Workspace through its Gemini models, extending creative capabilities.
The company stressed that inbox data is protected by privacy safeguards and not used to train public AI models.
