Janus Electric (ASX:JNS) has received formal approval from the California Air Resources Board for its JCM 540 Battery-Electric Conversion System to be eligible under the Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project.
The approval allows qualifying California fleet operators to access HVIP vouchers of up to US$90,000 per converted Class-8 truck, materially reducing the cost of converting existing diesel prime movers to zero-emission, battery-electric operation using Janus’ patented swappable battery architecture.
The milestone marks a step in Janus' US expansion strategy, providing an immediate commercial pathway into California’s high-volume freight, port and drayage markets.
The JCM 540 system is approved for Class-8 heavy freight trucks and supports rapid diesel-to-electric conversion, enabling fleets to meet tightening emissions regulations.
Janus has already exported its first conversion kits to the United States and expects truck trials to commence by June 30.
At the time of reporting, Janus Electric's share price was $0.063.
