“Bitcoin: Killing Satoshi,” a $70 million film centred on Bitcoin and its anonymous creator, will rely heavily on artificial intelligence to reduce production costs.
The movie stars Casey Affleck and Gal Gadot, and is directed by Doug Liman, with a storyline focused on the global hunt for Satoshi Nakamoto.
Producers said the use of AI reduced an estimated $300 million traditional filming budget to $70 million by replacing on-location shoots with digitally generated environments.

Said producer Ryan Kavanaugh, noting the cost savings from virtual production techniques.
The film was shot in a controlled studio environment where AI-generated settings and lighting replaced real-world locations, while actors’ performances remained unchanged.
It is expected to be presented to buyers at the Cannes International Film Festival, as renewed speculation about Bitcoin’s creator continues to drive public interest.
The project joins a growing list of films and documentaries attempting to uncover Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity, reflecting ongoing fascination with crypto’s origins.
